August 7, 2004
Hello Everyone!
The 2004 Mountain Bike Race season is well into its season, so I figured
a little update might keep you all in the "know"!
I'm on my way to the US National Off-Road Bicycle's Association Race # 7 in Aspen,
Colorado.
That's right....race #7 of the series! In 2004 the race series has 8 races
and one final National event! Plus we have the World Cup Series! 5
races throughout Europe and North America!
My primary goals of 2004 were to completely heal from my crash at the 2003 World
Championships (a broken wrist requiring 3 surgeries and 6 pins) and regain my
fitness to earn a spot on the 2004 Olympic Team heading to Athens in August. Well,
I'm well on my way to a perfect wrist, but the Olympic Team is well on their
way to Athens....without me. I've been named the 1st alternate for the
women's mtb team....yes, you got it....I get to watch my country mates race on
the TV. But the good news is that I get to hang with my awesome new team
mates in Aspen, Boulder and Durango, CO! And, as my strength and fitness
are getting stronger and better I've earned a coveted spot on the Canadian National
Team, representing Canada at the World Championships in Les Gets, France this
September!
My 2004 result highlights so far are:
