John Williams of Bike Line Corporate has been working hard on building a reputation as a diligent trainer and hard worker, parlaying those efforts in many victories this year. Fair Hill was another one for the records. John took 1st Place Sport Master I averaging just over 10 mph. Taking second place was Tailwinds Scott Reynolds finishing just under three minutes back. Rounding out the podium is long time Delaware cycling icon Dennis Smith. Dennis focused hard on the Iron Hill race, which he won, and was successful in carrying over his fitness to follow up his victory with a strong podium performance. Allez Dennis Smith! !st Place Master II Chris Hinman of No Cent Racing, is a regional veteran who has developed a reputation as a hard nosed racer and a very kind man. Chris has worked very hard this year and employed the coaching services of Doug Mills, know in many circles as Dougie Fresh. Chris rode a steady and strong race today winning by an almost five minute gap. Chris said “My trainer, Doug Mills, has me on a program that has really raised my fitness level.” Second place was Tailwinds Jac Frech who put in a great effort and solidified his team’s Series Championship win in the small team division, Jay Hammel was the third place finisher with a time of 2:11:44 . Clydesdale Race
Single Speed RaceNick Shaffer of Wooden Wheels an accomplished cat 2 road racer, returned to his roots in the dirt today and demonstrated his strength. Nick won the very competitive Single Speed class with a time of 2:09 . Nick attacked early in the race and set the pace and tone for the rest of the event. Nick commented, “After I caught Keith Goulet. I was going to let him go since he was my teammate and leading the series, but he had technical problems and I didn't want Vettori coming up on me.” The aforementioned Keith Goulet, Trek Series Single Speed Champion, had opened up a big lead mid way through the race before exploding a pedal and limping home for fourth. Goulet demonstrated himself to be the strongest single speeder in the Trek Series, still managing a 4th place finish with just one pedal. Second place today would go to Rock Star Chris “topher” Valenti, who rode an outstanding race. And finishing out the podium in 3rd place was Wooden Wheel’s Matt Thompson moving up from the tough Sport 30-34 class to make the home town crowd happy today. Pro RaceGO BIG RED ! Team Trek dominated today’s race sweeping the podium in the men’s pro race. Five time World Solo 24hr Champion Chris Eatough took the win with a three minute cushion over his teammate Todd Helmick. Chris said “I felt good today. This course doesn't have any particularly hard climbs, so I try to stay focused, fast and smooth the whole time.” As mentioned before Todd Helmick took second place, from his interview - "I would like to thank Trek/VW as always they have been a tremendous help all season. My wife who puts up with me and my ways and the Eatough family for making Nicole and I feel at home over the weekend....." And finishing off the Trek sweep was veteran strong man David Duvall. BIG RED WINS AGAIN. Former Junior National Champion and worlds team member applied all of her experience today into an outstanding ride, and the fastest of any woman at Fair Hill today. miles of racing. The Battle of the Big men. Like Hincapie and Rodriguez
battling it out in the final meters, this race would be decided
by just one second as William Davis took the victory over City
Bikes Joel Gwadz. This hard fought battle was one that will surely
be remembered by both combatants. Taking the final step on the
podium was Bike Line’s Brad Jones, who successfully accomplished
his year long goal capturing the Trek Series Championship. Brad
rode a very strong race finishing in 2:11:50 .
