Sport RaceClaire Hayes - Bike Line was the fastest woman Overall and 1st Place Sport Women 35+. Claire is a full time working mom from Wilmington, DE and her weakness is climbing. She is a monster on the downhills and a very good technician. Michaux last week must not have worn her out too much............ she placed second there. Gwen Livingston - Wooden Wheels also raced Michaux last week placing third in that race. She brought it up a notch at Granogue taking 2nd Place with Jill Morgan - Evolution Racing (former Expert Women racer who is making a comeback to racing) placing third and sister Lyn Shaffer - Wooden Wheels fourth. Chelsie Rose won 1st Place Sport Women 34 &under with a commanding lead. 2nd Place Nicole Sheets - Tailwind was 3:24 back and Kristin Lamb - Guys Bicycles came in third. 1st Place Junior Men was none other than the 2nd Place winner of Michaux last week - Alex Horwath - Chain Gang. Alex's seat was a bit high at Michaux and his grips fell off.......... guess he fixed those problems and made a comeback on another demanding course taking the win with time to spare. Taylor McClain - Yellow Breeches Racing had a great race placing second and Chad McCurdy - Cycle Fit came in third. The powerful First Capital Velo team rider Greg Linstrom set a course record coming in 1st Place Overall and Senior 1 (2 laps) with a time of 1:29:41. Marty McKeon - Gretna Bikes was second and Kyle Gery third. In the Sport Senior 2 race Peter Bruinsma - Cycle Fit took top honors with a time of 1:32:58. The second through fourth place spots were hard fought crossing the line all within 30 seconds. The iron willed Chris Yanavich - Action Wheels was second, 3:10 back, Matt Thompson - Wooden Wheels third, 3:16 back, and Tony Doll - First Capital Velo fourth, 3:34 back. It was First Capital Velo again taking 1st Place in the Sport Vet 1 race with Rob Lyon clocking in at 1:34:55. This makes two 1st Places in a row for Rob as he also won top honors at Michaux. Rob was third going into the singletrack and rode a steady race, taking the lead by the second lap. He knew he was winning so just held a steady but strong pace for the rest of the race. The formidable Buddy Briggs - Wooden Wheels who placed fifth last week at Michaux worked his way up to second place this week at Granogue, 3:20 back. Thayer Seese - Bike Line was third, 6:19 back. |
