Matt was born May 9, 1982 in Reseda California; Died at the age of 21, in a Truck accident Saturday, January 31, 2004 at around 1:30 in the morning, on the South bound 14 to the South I-5 interchange.   Matt and his friend Eric were towing a parts truck to the shop, when they were hit by a Semi Truck. Erick was severely injured but is expected to recover fully.

Matt's TrophiesMatt enjoyed racing BMX and Mountain Bikes at the national level and won numerous races, all over the country. It was his goal to be AA Pro. He was so dedicated to BMX that he built his own track with only picks and shovels, called Sunset Trails, in Llano, California. He was an avid fisherman and sportsman. He also loved building Cars, Trucks, Motors, Bicycles, and Harleys.

Matt grew up in Reseda and helped out at his parent's pet store, Pet Circus in North Hills.   Then he moved with his family to Llano, about seven years ago.    While in High School he worked at Pep Boys in Palmdale and Lancaster and at House of Bikes.   He graduated from Little Rock High School with a 3.8 GPA.

Matt Eye RacingAfter high school he got a job at the Harley shop in Palmdale building custom Hogs.   Then he got a job wiring wind mills in Texas and Oklahoma .   Next he got a job Powder Coating and Sand blasting in Lancaster , a job that he said he would not recommend.   He said sand blasting was the worst job ever.   Matt helped care for his disabled brother, James for the last seven years.

Matt enjoyed racing BMX and Mountain Bikes at the national level and won numerous races, all over the country.   He also loved building cars and mini trucks and was working at a custom fabrication shop in Sylmar called IF Customs.   Where he was currently working on many projects, one project he was working on was his brothers 67 Chevy pickup.   He was building it in memory of his brother, Jesse Paul Eye, who died in a hit and run, roll over accident on the 14 freeway on the Pear blossom off ramp, he died at age 18, five years ago.

Matt told me that he loved working at IF Customs that he would gladly work there for free, because of all the cool stuff he was learning every day, the people he met, the great connections he was making, and because he got to use his favorite tool a Welder.

Matt is dearly missed by his Family, Friends and Co-workers. www.matteye.com
