Clydesdale Race
Single Speed RaceWooden Wheels Racing is known for it's strong single speed racers. Keith Goulet did not disappoint winning this fast paced race with just 29 seconds to spare due to competitive pressure constantly put on by 2nd place Mark Elsasser - Spot Brand. Keith was first into the single track but Mark passed and took 1st place during the first half of the first lap. Keith pushed hard in the second half of the first lap re-taking the lead and never looking back. He had a problem with leg cramping and actually stopped and did a quick stretch during the last lap. Tim Norejko - Green Mtn Cyclery placed 3rd 4:28 back. Pro RaceChris Eatough - Trek/VW East Coast (24 hour SOLO World & National Champion) was first overall & Pro Men completing four laps in 1:23:08! That means he averaged just slightly over 20 minutes per lap. Brandon Ott - Tailwind put up a valiant effort placing a respectable second at 1:26 back. Another awesome performance by Clydesdale qualifying David DuVall - Trek/VW East Coast earned him a third place finish. Lacey Gonzalez - Shirk's had a great race holding off Caitlyn Tuel - Trek/VW East Coast by riding at a steady pace. Besides sliding out on a turn and having to play catch up for about half of a lap, she turned in a flawless performance besting Ms. Tuel by a mere 30 seconds with a time of 1:44:31. Expert RaceFirst State Velo Sport's Lisa Vible was the fastest Expert Women Overall & 35+ winner. Lisa has had a busy schedule lately and somehow has found enough time to train quite effectively it seems. She looked strong the whole race and won with a time of 1:49:55. Jodi Hartlep - First State Velo Sport placed 2nd Expert Women 35+ moving up from Sport. The Expert Women 34&under race was won by 2nd overall Jane Adams clocking in at 1:52:24. She still had enough energy to take 1st Place after traveling 4 hours from Upstate New York. Current Expert Women 34 &under series leader Tammy Coleman - Gung Ho Bikes continued her winning ways placing second. The three Expert Junior winners rode together for the first two laps and in the middle of the last (third lap) Matt Miller - Curt's Cyclery attacked and put over a minute's gap on number two finisher Aaron Snyder - Tailwind. Daniel Hock - Team Bulldog - placed third. |

The
Clydesdale race was one of the few races that didn't feature such
close finish times. William Davis took 1st place with a time of
1:13:33. Brett Weiser - Yellow Breeches Racing was second 8:57
back. With more competition between Wooden Wheels Racing and Bike
Line Corporate (large team division) Bike Line Corporate's Brad
Jones edged out Mark Fitzwater - Wooden Wheels for 3rd Place. This
makes Brad the new Clydesdale series champion, unseating Mr. Fitzwater
who finished a very respectable 2nd at Michaux behind Brad but
came back the next week and took 4th place at Granogue where Brad
was 6th place. The last two races should be quite exciting in this
class.
