Lauri Webber will be riding for INDEPENDENT FABRICATION in 2004. Lauri regretfully must leave her current position of team captain of the Wooden Wheels Mtn Bike race team in Newark, DE - however this is a rare opportunity. Lauri started racing in the Mid-Atlantic region in 1999 and has since developed into one of the fastest Expert Women 35+ racers on the East Coast. Among her accomplishments: 2003 Mid-Atlantic Super Series Champion. 2002 Results: Hershey Race For Chocolate - 1st Place, Escape from Granogue - 1st Place, Guys Neshaminy - 1st Place, Mid Atlantic Super Series - 2nd Place
This racer has not only improved her skills but also done much for the sport helping to develop new trails and organizing races. Lauri helped promote Junior racing by promoting a race especially for the Wooden Wheels Junior Development Team in October 2003 at White Clay State Park - Newark, DE. Lauri's son Jeffery is shown in the picture above riding his unicycle......... mom rides one too......... even on the trial! INDEPENDENT FABRICATION will be a good match for Lauri as she is an excellent representative of the sport.
Here's the IF philosophy from their website for their grassroots team: Grassroots Racing has proven to be one of the greatest programs in which IF has ever been involved. Sure, the ongoing research and development, victories, medals, and exposure it brings are great, but it is the racers themselves that make it worth it for us. Each year we are approached by hundreds of riders, from pro roadies to first year mountain bikers, all looking to become part of the IF extended family. Some want a lot. Others ask for very little. Those who chose to work with us become so much more than just a racer to us, they become a friend. The weekly race reports turn into laughable conversations about flat tires and finish line sprints. We share our lives with them and they share their lives with us. The resulting partnerships have lasted long after the race season is over and even when a racer moves on. We are most proud of that simple fact. That when a racer leaves IF, IF doesn't leave the race.
