We've been coming to Interbike since 1986. What is your focus for the show this year? For this year we're introducing two new product lines...... the ALP line which stands for Aerodynamic wheels, Lightweight frame and Performance drivetrain which is essentially a high end road bike with flat handlebars. We have also expanded our comfort line to active sport........ we're introducing two new models in that category....... as a company we've been around since 1986 and our consumer's needs have changed........ they no longer need to be riding a mountain bike........ they're looking for something that's going to be a little bit more comfortable........ but still having a performance ride. This is the largest gathering of cycling industry representatives from all over the world. What is your take on the general attitude for 2002? I think in general people are excited......... I feel that the show for a lot of companies is going really well. I know that we've been really busy ........ just in the past two months our dealer base has grown 14% and we've had really strong months so..... I think the vibe is really good. Will the Sept. 11th attacks on America and its effect on the economy change any of your business plans for 2002? I think that question is really hard to answer because I think it's something that we don't know the full effects of yet or how it's going to be resolved. I think Sept. 11th is impacting everyone's life in some way or another and definitely the bike industry will be no different. Are you happy with this year's show? So far it's been great....... very well organized. |
