How was your fitness level going into this race?

It would appear that I have an enormous amount of work to do. I thought I was in pretty good shape going into this race- I was wrong. This race kicked my ass.

Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?

Yes-- first place & hauling ass.

Were you strong from start to finish?

No--3/4 thru the last lap I cramped up -- both legs. This has never happened before. I may have rode a little too hard Fri & Sat-- plus I think I screwed up my drink mixture. At least I hope that's it.

When did you put the hammer down?

At the start.

Did you have any unusual problems?

Just the leg cramps-- the bike worked perfectly.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Very Much. One thing's for sure- Lackawanna Cycle club is not stingy with the prizes. Also one of the coolest trophys I have got in awhile.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

The last lap on the muddy downhill (you know the one) one of the experts passed me- it was like poetry in motion. Incredible speed, style and control. The crash was equally spectacular.

Anything you would like to add?

I don't remember this race being so tough last year; it must be the mud (though we should be getting used to it by now!) Anyway thanks to Lackawanna Cycle Club for a great race, Bushey's Cycling & Fitness for their fantastic support & of course Don & Bill for everything they do.
