Mike Connair

Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?

Drank a lot of water the week before. This worked pretty well, I only cramped briefly while lying on my back like a dead bug after a crash in the third lap.

Did you make it up all of the hills?

Nope - I rode Muncle all three laps but got off for at least part of the climb in the woods.

What was your favorite part of the course?

The trail down from the Tower. Everywhere else was HARD.

Were you strong from start to finish?

I felt pretty good. My lap times were pretty consistent. I was trying to pick up the last lap, but realized I wasn't really moving when Kristine Oesterling blew by me like I was standing still.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

I endo'd in the new section with my mouth open. It was like eating a serving spoon of dust. I lost my glasses after the race.

When did you put the hammer down?

I wanted to but couldn't. I tried to catch back to my group in the first lap and finally caught up at the top of the greenhouse climb - only to be dropped in the singletrack.

Did you have any unusual problems?

I crashed three times but that's not unusual for me when I get tired.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Oh yeah. The course was really cool. It's one of my favorites, and thanks to the guy who set up the sprinkler.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Yea, if anyone found my glasses let me know. And where did Rob Sauer find the energy to pull a wheelie?
