I was unable to ride that much during the week prior to the race but my fitness level is right on target. Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack? I was out of the top ten going into the singletrack and began to doubt my chances for a good finish. As I approached the stream crossings I saw a lot of riders and realized my race was just beginning. |

Were you strong from start to finish? Throughout the race I was tentative yet consistent. When did you put the hammer down? I don't think I ever pulled out the hammer, but just wedged things into place. I developed a presumably comfortable lead and picked certain spots on the course to attack. Did you have any unusual problems? Saturday evening I had to patch a slice on the sidewall of my front tire. I was nervous about the problems this could cause during the race and whether or not it would prevent me from being more aggressive. Were you happy with the way the race was run? Since I am new to MTB racing I was confused about the starting procedures for this race, but I'm not complaining. As always Joe T, Don, the check-in people, and everyone else did a great job. SNAPS! I appreciate your hard work. Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)? Thanks to all the racers starting before me who let me pass and cheered as they did. I don't know your names but now you know mine. Camera man is sooo coool! Anything you would like to add? Shout-outs go to; Bill's Rent-a Rims, Dan the managing man, my teammate Bert the Expert, And Dandy Randy who is the finest mechanic this side of the Brandywine River. Ps: Stefan I think it's time for a maintenance meeting, I'll see you by the stream?
