Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?
Took some time off the bike during the week prior, but kept up the technical mtb'ing.
Did you achieve your goals for this race?
And then some!
Were you strong from start to finish?
Didn't feel so strong walking my bike through that parade of a start. But as soon as the field cleared out and we could get back on the bikes I felt good.
Did you change your race strategy after encountering the more difficult course this year?
Not really. Michaux is always difficult, but the backed up start required creative bike-pushing strategy to keep my back from hurting.
What was your favorite part of the course?
The rocks...
When did you put the hammer down?
As soon as the people cleared out and we could actually ride, so pretty much from the start.
Due to the heat and difficult course did you have any problems with cramping or dehydrating?
Not this year. Last year was a major blow-up for me under similar heat conditions. I learned my lesson and was prepared this year!
Did you have any unusual problems?
Not really.
How would you rate the course?
Pretty close to tops, although I think I prefered the old start.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
Absolutely!
Is there anything you would like to add?
Racing at Michaux seems to always put me in the "zone" and I just can't seem to get enough of it.
