Was the water crossing fun?

Yeah...... I loved that. I like diversity in a course so........ that was great.

What was your favorite part of the course?

I couldn't really pick a favorite. The whole course was real fun.

Were you strong from start to finish?

Yeah....... I was leading the whole time.......until the end (laughs)

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

The most interesting thing was not knowing the course....... not knowing the turns....... it was pretty tough to go at full race pace not knowing the turns and not knowing what gear to be in etc.........

You lead the race the whole time didn't you?

Yeah..... until we hit the asphalt (the asphalt is approximately 100 yards from the finish). I kind of knew what was going to happen but I wasn't real sure that that was the finish. I didn't realize that the finish was on the road section. Jason (Moore) and Ryan (DeWald) were right on my wheel.......and they just flipped me right at the end. I wasn't sure how much longer we had to go. I thought we had another five miles to go....... but....... they did what they had to do........ and they got me.(laughs)

So nobody ever pulled for you the whole race...... you were always out front?

Nobody else pulled the whole time. (laughs)

When did you put the hammer down?

From the start. I wanted to make sure that I got into the singletrack first. With these twisty, turny courses...... you can get gapped really quick if you go into the woods behind somebody that can't ride quite as fast as you can.

Did you have any unusual problems?

Not today...... just that my big chain ring is totally worn out on that bike so..... my chain was jumping off...... I've got to buy a new chain ring I guess.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

I was super stoked the whole time. I came here yesterday and there were course maps set up......everything was organized....... perfect and I thought.......YES....... Everything went smooth.......started on time...... then we got to the awards ceremony I was so happy because the building was full of people and I thought....... yeah...... good for my sponsors...... all right! Then everything went to chaos....... no hard feelings here I just hope that everybody gets things worked out. It would be good for the sport. If it's going to be an event let's make it a real event. I think we could bring people out and make it a real event.......good for sponsorship. If the right people come and see that it would be worth their while to spend their money on a team I think it would be good. It seems like..... a lot of mountain bike races you go to.......things are good up to a point and then something happens. If we could figure that out we'd be all set.

I've been racing around different districts..... Ohio, NJ, North Carolina........ and it seems that this district right here has the most talent from what I've seen. I even raced out in Colorado for a couple of years...... but this district right here is definitely above the rest as far as talent goes.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Thanks to all the volunteers and to all the spectators and to all the racers and to the Delaware Trail Spinners!
