Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?: No. The past couple days I did not have any intensity to my rides, for I was not feeling great. Did a little better warm-up,for I've been disappointed in my starts recently.

Did you achieve your goals for this race?: Sure. Can't ask for better than 1st,and,yes I started better. Trying to reach a peak in the next 2weeks.

Were you strong from start to finish?: Today..yes. Willie Elliston and I put in an effort the first lap and a half to capitalize on the gap we had,so that allowed us to settle in for a bit.

When did you put the hammer down?: Well,Will was having some problems with the pace (he was sick last wk),and I was content to ride comfortably as long as the gap(to the chasers)to stayed the same.Once I tripped on a set of barriers,we gave up 5". After I switched bikes I decided to take the pace up,which was probably the 5th lap or so.

Did the extra high barriers give you any trouble?: Not really. When I tripped on them it was a timing error..not so much to do with the height.

Did you have any unusual problems?: See above. My stem slipped some(I want A-head stems!),but the pits were on the next straight and Dave the MAn was there with a fresh bike in hand!

Did the cold weather affect you during the race?: No. Once you're warmed up and have the proper amount on it's pretty much the same.

How would you rate the course?: On my scale-Great! It favored my points with it being fairly fast with a good amount of turns.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?: The race seemed to go off great. Well organized.,thanks to Dave M. and the FSVS crew. The "color-comentary"from Mark V. and Bryant was a treat.Everything went off pretty much on time. Results were timely.Officals were understanding. I think the "grippers" don't come out when it gets below 40 degrees!

If you could do the race again - would you do anything differently?: Ah,yeh...not trip on that set of barriers!

It's the end of a long season, how did you maintain your fitness?: I've had my share of back problems this year,so my season has been a bit behind from the start, which actually works out better for racing well now. I try to be up to good race fittness by the summer months.Squeeze in some big/long races then.Take a little break of a week or two without racing to transition into 'cross. Actually I've been keeping the mileage up a bit more for me this time of year and I think it's helping in balancing my training.

Is there anything you would like to add?: I'd like to dedicate my win at the Mid Atlantic Cross Finals to Helen Hudson,my Aunt, who pasted away in October.
