Were you strong from start to finish?
The pace of the first lap was pretty much defined by the mob so it was difficult to get into a groove. Once things spread out a bit, I was able to choose my pace and start reeling in the riders ahead of me. A pack of Gel part way through the race, whether my body uses it or not, makes my mind think I'm strong enough to maintain the pace.
Did you have any problems trying to get to the single-track first?
It was critical to enter the single track at the top of your class. Unfortunately you immediately ran into the back half of the previous heat and suffered through some heavy traffic.
Were the riders courteous while passing in the single-track?
In general everyone was courteous. I think everyone knew the traffic situation was bad and they were just trying to make the best of it.
What was your favorite part of the course?
The course is loaded with sweet single track. It's impossible to pick one section
When did you put the hammer down?
Half way through the last lap.
Did you have any unusual problems?
Aside from the poison Ivy?
How would you rate the course?
6
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
The race was simply too popular. The officials weren't prepared to handle the registration and scoring and the course wasn't big enough to handle the load of racers. But, it's hard to be pissed at volunteers.
Is there anything you would like to add?
Give credit to the Super Series and that dude with the broken wrist for bringing exciting mountain biking to the region!
