Karen Henry

How was your fitness level going into this race?

I wasn't 100%--I was still recovering from a cold that's been hanging around for a couple weeks.

Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?

Yes.

Were you strong from start to finish?

I think I was fairly strong the first two laps but faded a little on the the third lap.

When did you put the hammer down?

I don't think I ever put the hammer down--I'm getting too old to do that. I just tried to go hard from the start and get into a rhythm as soon as possible.

Did you have any unusual problems?

No.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yes. I think the race was very well run.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

The one that comes to mind was seeing my brother-in-law (Scott Henry) stopped on the trail looking for a piece of his helmet padding which was stuck to the side of his head. You had to be there, but it just looked funny.

Anything you would like to add?

Thanks to everyone who helped put on the event and thanks to all my teammates who cheered me on during the race. Thanks guys--I appreciate it!
