Did you do everything you could to prepare for today's race?
No--I didn't come into the race too fresh. I don't think I had recovered from a hard ride a few days before the race.
Did you have any problems getting into the singletrack?
No.
How did you like the manhole downhill?
I liked it until I came close to doing an endo on it (in front of a group of teammates)on my last lap.
Were you strong from start to finish?
No. Actually, I didn't feel too great most of the race--the last lap was pretty tough.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
Yes. I thought it was run very well. I was especially impressed by all the volunteers out manning the course.
When did you put the hammer down?
I never feel like I "put the hammer down"--I just got into the single track in a good position and just tried to keep up a steady pace.
Did you have any unusual problems?
No.
Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?
Just that the course spectators and volunteers were very supportive of all the riders.
Did you climb the steep uphill on any laps?
I climbed the thing every lap--just not on my bike. It was painful on foot too!
Anything you'd like to add?
Thanks to the promoters for putting on the race. They did a great job! Thanks to my teammates for their support while I was racing--thanks guys!
