Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?

Me and another guy played sand volleyball against an almost pro womens volleyball team. They kicked our butts but I think it must be a good pre-race workout.

Did you find the rock gardens challenging?

They weren't bad, all rideable.

Were the other riders courteous when passed or passing?

Yes, lappers weren't much of an issue. Did get in a good battle with a Wooden Wheels guys late in the race. He though I was in his class and didn't want me to pass. Was fun dicing with him.

What was your favorite part of the course?

Nothing really sticks out, the whole course was fun!

Were you strong from start to finish?

No, I'm sure my last lap was slower than the first. This course had more climbing and tougher singletrack than the other series races, plus it was longer. I was pretty tired at the end.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

No not really other than banging bars with that Wooden wheels guy.

When did you put the hammer down?

Went hard at the start and pushed pretty hard till Jerry dropped off a bit.

Did you have any unusual problems?

Crashed the last time down the muddy downhill. Lost the front, not too nasty of a crash. Banged my knee a bit.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yes, the promoters did an excellent job.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Thanks to the bike club for promoting the race, Don and Bill for promoting the series and of course thanks to my sponsors Bushey's, the Philips group, Sutliff Autoplex, VOmax and www.gretnabikes.com for their support.
