Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?
I did everything the same as usual. I rode less than usual this week and got a lot of rest.
Did you achieve your goals for this race?
I had my best race of this season, so yeah.
Were you strong from start to finish?
Yes
Did you have any problems trying to get to the single-track first?
I was toward the front of my age group but I was running into other classes and they were slowing me down. A lot of times in the singletrack people walking there bikes were in the way. People walking should walk on the side of the trail.
Were the riders courteous while passing in the single-track?
For the most part, yeah
What was your favorite part of the course?
It was all awesome, but I think the first singletrack was the most fun. It was smooth and fast.
When did you put the hammer down?
Whenever there was passing room. I hammered the long grass climb every lap, and whenever I saw an opening anywhere on the course, I attacked.
Did you have any unusual problems?
I was told I finished 5th when I know I finished 2nd. I waited around all day for awards to not get the award that I earned. My chain came off once and got tangled up.
How would you rate the course?
Fantabulous. One of the finest courses I've ever ridden. The climbs were the right length, terrain, and grade. The singletrack was fast and fun. The logs were awesome. The course was marked very well.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
No! Not at all! The results took forever. The awards took all day. They had my result wrong. They should've staggered the start groups by at least 2 minutes. I understand they don't want the expert/pro class catching everybody, but they caught up anyway.
Is there anything you would like to add?
Be prepared next time you run a race. When each racer finishes pull a sticker
from there race number (that has there age, category, etc.) write there time
down on it and post it up on a poster board.
