Did you do anything special to prepare for this race? We came up yesterday and we pre-rode, my mom and I started to pre-ride the course and we got lost and didn't finish. I tried to get a good night sleep. There was a carnival in the town we were staying in that kept us up for a while. Where are you from? I'm from Beltsville, MD. When did you start racing? I started racing mountain bikes when I was 13 years old. Now I'm almost 18. What is your best result so far? Today! The girl I beat, Amy Lowry beat me by 3 minutes at Wye Mills, so I came back! I'm doing around 10 hours per week. I was aiming to do really well here. Where do you train mostly? A little bit of road and a lot of mountain biking. We train at Avalon. Any other cross training? In the winter I do weights and aerobic type stuff. |

What happened today? I went out pretty hard. I was in the woods second or third and Amy was in front of me. I don't know at which point I passed her, but it was on a downhill. I love downhilling! We went off at 10:30 in with sport masters. When did you put the hammer down? My second lap was fastest, because I knew I was out front and I wanted this so bad. We did two laps. Was there anything unusual that happened? I wrecked on Thursday and tore the skin on my hip bone. And I did the same thing today and re-tore it off on my second lap. I fell and I just got right back up and said, "I'm doing this." I was catching a few women, and I was catching some men. It felt so good! When's your next race? Next weekend I'm doing Salsbury and then Mother's Day Mauler. Is there anything you'd like to add? Hi too all my friends at Pallotti. Thanks to Jeremiah and Eric for supporting me. More to Jeremiah. |
