Did you do anything special to prepare for this race?

No. I commuted twice a week to work just so I got some riding in. Other than that I just kind of pushed myself on the Sunday rides more than I usually do. Oh, and I didn't drink beer the week before the race. That was hard. I get to have one tonight.

In the last two months how many hours a week have you trained?

6 to 12 hours. Very variable.

Were you strong from start to finish?

I don't know, I looked at the times and I think I slowed down a little on the second lap. I fell on the second lap. I think I was slower by about a minute or so. I did try to start out as strong as I could. I figured if I got a good lead, I would be able to maintain it.

When did you put the hammer down?

I didn't do it on that first climb up - but as soon as we came down I took off. The first 200 yards of the race. People were saying, "don't do that" - but I did it.

Did you have any unusual problems with the race?

No.

How do you rate the course?

Fast. The only other race I did was at Hard Rock - in Ocala. This was a lot easier on you and faster, but it was still fun. This course had only a couple of tricky climbs whereas at Ocala there were about 12.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yeah, I think GoneRiding does a good job. I didn't experience any problem with people on the trails or anything like that. It seemed like the way they set up the groups were good, there were some people lapping, but it wasn't a major problem.

What was your prize for first place?

A bottle of Champagne, a medal, Teva shoes which was really nice, a tool kit from University Bicycle Center, and a water bottle.

If you could do the race again, would you do anything differently?

Just try to go faster.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Not really, that's about it.
