MBR.com: Has your team raced as a team before this race?

Christine: No. Not the folks that I raced with at Allamuchy. Three of us are on the same race team, but we all race individually so we never raced as a team before Allamuchy.

MBR.com: Did the team do anything special to prepare for this race?

Christine: The three of us that are on the team - we also have a coaching service rpmcycling.com which is our team name - We all have a coach and he knew that we were all doing the 24 hour race so I'm not sure how much he changed things for that race being different from the normal 10, 12, 15, or 20 mile race that we would usually do on Sundays. So we've been coached and have been training throughout the year not specifically for this event but for our normal events year round.

MBR.com: How many laps did each member do during the race?

Christine: We each did four.

MBR.com: Who had the fastest lap times on your team?

Christine: That was me.

MBR.com: Was everyone on time for their next lap in the transition area?

Christine: Yes,everyone was on time. Toward the end or the race when we knew that we were going to win, two of the team members weren't feeling great. One of them was feeling dehydrated and the other one had never done a 24 hour race before so she was feeling the pains of being in her 22nd hour. So they decided to do their last lap together and take it really nice and slow so that they could both have the same number of laps and finish together and continue with the camaraderie of the whole 24 hour experience.

MBR.com: Was the team strong from start to finish?

Christine: I think so. I think towards the end when we knew that there was no way that we were going to be caught - we kind of took some more of the competitiveness out of it and made sure we were having fun, made sure nobody got hurt etc...

MBR.com: How do you rate the course?

Christine: The course I think is really fun. It's not super challenging, just really fun - I think for a 24 hour event if you are trying to make it so that people finish and don't get hurt I think it was perfect. Something like Canaan, when you are in the 22nd or 23rd hour, it's really a difficult course and you are prone to accidents you could get injured. Allamuchy I think is a really fun course, it has a little bit of everything, nothing really grueling - nothing you can hurt yourself on - that's really nice especially for someone who's never ridden a 24 hour race before. It's also a good course for the solo riders.

MBR.com: Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Christine: Yeah, I really am. It was really nice. People are very friendly there. The course was clearly marked. The whole event was very well organized.

MBR.com: If you could do the race again, would you do anything differently?

Christine: No, not this time. I don't think so. I would have my lights charged a little bit better. I ran out of light one time. That's one thing I'd do differently, but nothing major.

MBR.com: Is there anything you would like to add?

Christine: No, I think that's about it.

MBR.com: So your team could have done another lap?

Christine: We probably could have done two more laps actually. We finished before the twenty-four hour time and the two women that went out last did a very slow lap together and took their time - stopping to check out the scenery and those kind of things.

MBR.com: Did you have a good support crew?

Christine: Yeah, we had a great support crew. We were sponsored by Hudson Trail Outfitter so we had one of the guys from Hudson Trail out helping us. Fixing our bikes, cleaning our bikes, making sure that we were fed, making sure that we had enough rest, making sure that we were awake - those kind of things.

MBR.com: Did anyone change clothes, shower, or nap during the race?

Christine: We had a system where the person that was going next would bring the person that was out's shower bad down. So that the person that just finished would have their shower bag ready for them. The mechanic would take the bike back to the campsite and the person that just finished racing would go straight to the shower. So we each had a shower every lap and as soon as we got back to the site we would all eat. I was able to sleep between each lap for a couple of hours which was really nice. This was the first time in any 24 hour race that I've been able to sleep between my laps.

MBR.com: Did you have any unusual luck?

Christine: Luck? Well, I guess I consider it lucky that we really didn't have any mechanicals. I think that's part luck and part having a good support crew. It was also really lucky that the weather held out for us and it didn't rain and that it stayed nice and warm.
