Iron Hill Classic XC Interview
Editor's note: Katie rode a SINGLE SPEED bike for this race. It has only one gear and will not shift into an easier gear for the tough hills, nor will it gain too much speed on the downhills as it is not geared too high or too low. There were many other single speed racers that couldn't catch Katie. Aren't women supposed to be slower?

MBR.com: Did you do anything special to prepare for this race?

Katie: No, I've been sick all weekend so...just resting..

MBR.com: In the last two months how many hours a week have you trained?

Katie: I haven't been counting.

MBR.com: Were you strong from start to finish?

Katie: No I was tired. I was stronger the first couple of laps. By the fourth lap I just kind of carried it through and finished.

MBR.com: When did you put the hammer down?

Katie: I had only one speed so it was about the same the whole time.

MBR.com: Did you have any unusual problems with the race?

Katie: No.

MBR.com: How do you rate the course?

Katie: It was fun today. It was a good course. Single-speed friendly so I was happy about that.

MBR.com: Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Katie: Of course, the Trail Spinners do a beautiful job.

MBR.com: What was your prize for First Place?

Katie:

MBR.com: If you could do the race again, would you do anything differently?

Katie: I'd use different tires, but that's about it.

MBR.com: Is there anything you would like to add?

Katie: No, but your a wonderful interviewer.
