MBR.com: In the last two months how many hours a week have you trained? Katie: I would say about 20 to 21 hours a week. MBR.com: Did you have any unusual problems with the race? Katie: No, I went great, no flats. MBR.com: Didn't miss any signs? Katie: No, I can read. MBR.com: Did you have any unusual luck? Katie: No, I felt good that day. That's probably all the luck I needed. MBR.com: Were you strong from start to finish? Katie: Yeah. I was pushing the big ring for a good part of the race. I've been trying to do that more. I feel better in the big ring. MBR.com: When did you put the hammer down? Katie: I try to keep it at a good pace the whole time. The last 4 or 5 miles I tried to push even harder just so I'd be tired by the time I got in. It was a flat kind of down hill section and it rode really fast so I was able to power through it. MBR.com: Did you do anything special to prepare for this race? Katie: No, not at all. MBR.com: How do you rate the course? Katie: It was great. A little more climbing then there was last year but it was super-fun. |

MBR.com: Were you happy with the way the race was run? Katie: Yeah, the Trail Spinners did a great job putting it on. Very well organized, plenty of water stops and they did a great job with registration. Everything worked out well. MBR.com: What was your prize for First Place? Katie: $150. MBR.com: If conditions are the same, could you go faster next year? Katie: I think so. Riding Fairhill makes you faster the more you ride it. You get used to the terrain. |
