knobbies

9. What TEAM?

10. Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?

No nothing special

11. Were you strong from start to finish?

Technically I felt better on the second lap and I was feeling stronger through most of the places that threw me on the first lap. My legs started to cramp during the last mile or so which was a pain.

12. When did you put the hammer down?

I took off way to fast at the start which cost me when we reached the single track. I was passed by three women and I had to chase them through about half of the second lap. I passed two of the women but I never caught the youngster who passed me at the single track. There was a rider on my back for the rest of the race and she even passed me more than once. I would think that I had left her only to have her appear yet again. So a long answer to your short question is that I put the hammer down at the start and just tried to hang on to that for the duration.

13. Did you have any unusual problems?

It was extremely muddy and so I spent too much time without my shoes clipped in. We were covered from head to toe in mud. I crashed a few times and banged up my knee pretty bad but you know how that goes it doesn't hurt until your in the car and looking at a 7 hour ride home!

14. How would you rate the course?

It was a great course. It had a little bit of everything. There were field climbs, tough single track, fresh cut trails, roots, rocks, fire roads, steep off camber decents and a few nice climbs. Did I say it was hot! and humid.

15. Were you happy with the way the race was run?

This race is a great race and it is run extremely well. They actually have the beginners, sport, expert and pro ride at different times so that you are only racing with your class. It makes for a long day for the volunteers but there was alot going on to keep everyone entertained.

16. If you could do the race again - would you do anything differently?

I may have held back a little at the beginning so that I could have stayed with the youngster who passed me. I wouldn't crash so much.

17. Is there anything you would like to add?
