Did you do anything special to prepare for this race?

Not so much for this race. I haven't been on my mountain bike that much over the wintertime. It's been pretty much all road racing. We started doing a couple of crits about two weeks ago. A couple last weekend and some crits the weekend before which is new for me. As long as you are racing it keeps you motivated to train.

In the last two months how many hours a week have you trained?

20 to 24 hours.

Were you strong from start to finish?

Yes. I felt really good. A lot of times when we race we have some of the Expert men that are catching us. Today, not a soul passed me and I just kept trying to pick everybody off. I had a team mate that was a little bit ahead of me, so that kind of had me working to try to catch him.

When did you put the hammer down?

From the very beginning. Up the first hill I missed a pedal at the start so I had a little bit of catching up to do. As I got off of the back side of the hill, it was go from there.

Did you have any unusual problems with the race?

Not today. Not a single fall. I was very fortunate. I caught one of the trees and ripped my uniform, but other than that I had no problems.

How do you rate the course?

Definite 10 - it's a good course. I prefer any course on the East Coast because I think anything that gets our technical ability going is much better than the wide open jeep roads.

Yes I was, very happy. I think Dave and Terri Berger do an awesome job.

If you could do the race again, would you do anything differently?

I don't think so. You're always thinking that you should train more, but I've put a lot of effort into it this year so I'm hoping the year will go well. This is a good start.

Is there anything you would like to add?

My team mate fell on the second lap and I missed her for motivation (usually we ride tandem through our races) so....besides not having Shelly Allen with me to finish....it was a great race. Everybody should come down and see what we've got to offer down here.
