Date: March 12, 2000
Event: Spring Series #1 AMBC/Gainesville, FL
Class: Master 30-39
Category: Sport

Length: 15.6 mi

Time: 1:13 / 12.68 avg sp
Conditions: Sunny - 60 to 70 degrees
Bike: Schwinn Homegrown Full Suspension
Tires: Continental

Did you do anything special to prepare for this race?

I had a week off before the race due to a medical condition where I couldn't ride. So I actually went into the race fresh after five days of not riding.

In the last two months how many hours a week have you trained on average?

Around 8 to 10. That's only about 130 miles a week that I've been riding. I do around 50% road / 50% off road.

Were you strong from start to finish?

Yeah, I got the whole shot and was able to get a good lead in the beginning. Then I tapered off on the second and third lap. At the end I had a two minute lead so it was a really good race for me.

When did you put the hammer down?

Right at the start. I love the starts. I'd rather get out and have them chase me then have to work for it - if you can, you know.

Did you have any unusual problems with the race?

No, the race went perfect, the bike worked perfect, everything went great!

How do you rate the course?

I like Gainesville - it's a good course with a lot of rippin' straights and not too much climbing - it's a fast course. I like the course.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yes, all the races that Goneriding puts on are good races! They put on good events.

What was your prize for first place?

A medal, a tool kit, a water bottle, shirt, hat - that was cool.

If you could do the race again, would you do anything differently?

No, as I said everything went perfect. It was a good day.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Just want to say Dave does a great job and I'd like to thank him for all of the races he puts on.

Thanks to B&J Bicycles also- they help me out a lot.
