Did you do anything special to prepare for this race? Just my normal training regiment which is getting out a couple days a week doing off-road riding and then three times a week doing road riding. In the last two months how many hours a week have you trained on average? 6-8 hours of road and maybe another 4 hours of off road. Around 10 hours a week. Were you strong from start to finish? I felt pretty good for the whole thing. I felt real strong for the first 3 laps and then for the 4th lap I backed down a little bit. When did you put the hammer down? Mainly just in the beginning to stay in the first group of 4 guys then they slowly started falling off. Then I just tried to keep my pace up and my heart rate at a certain level. Did you have any unusual problems with the race? Nope. That was a very smooth race compared to some of the other races. I did have a couple of little crashes, but really minor. I caught a tree branch a couple of times and it kind of threw me a little bit but that was just on the first lap. After that everything else went pretty smooth. |

How do you rate the course? I haven't ridden too many out of state courses, but for Florida I rate it pretty good. I like that course a lot. Were you happy with the way the race was run?Yeah, I've been real happy with the way GoneRiding is promoting all of their races compared to some of the other ones I've been in. What was your prize for first place? A cash prize along with a medal and a bottle of champagne. If you could do the race again, would you do anything differently? No, I felt very good training wise before the race. I felt strong during the race. If anything I would not back off on the last lap and try to keep my momentum going. I felt that when I kept looking back and didn't see anybody on my tail, I backed off a little bit and didn't really push myself as hard. Is there anything you would like to add? No. |
