Did you do anything special to prepare for this race? I wouldn't say especially for this race. I've been training for Big Bear. I really want to peak for that race. I've had two 17 hour weeks in a row. I'm just finishing up a 17 hour week that's why I had to get back on the bike and go ride after the race. Just kind of training through this race. In the last two months how many hours a week have you trained? For the past couple of months it's been from 15 to 18. I did three races including Napa and the Sea Otter. Those three weeks you have to be rested to race so I only did about 10 - 12 hour weeks. Were you strong from start to finish? Yeah, but I had to write three papers yesterday for college and get up at 5:00 am to drive down here. I'm a little zonked but once I got on the bike I'm like....well this is better than studying right now so...happy to do it. When did you put the hammer down? From the go. The course was good for me technically but my strengths are climbing and descending. Since there's not too much climbing (it was flat and rolling) I knew I had to get into the singletrack first. |

Did you have any unusual problems with the race? No. I had a really good wreck actually. On the second lap - because I think I picked a little bit skinnier tires - they were washing out. After that I decided to chill a little and not wreck anymore. How do you rate the course? I love this course. It's really fun. It's not necessarily my strengths (as I mentioned I need bigger climbs and downhills) but as far as the ride....it's really great. It's harder to race on but they had a lot of really nice spots to pass on so... I don't think anyone had too much problem with that. Were you happy with the way the race was run?Yes. If you could do the race again would you do anything differently? No. Ummm....maybe go a little harder. Is there anything you would like to add? My sponsors are great! Love my sponsors. They're always there to support me. I've got a new bike sitting in the trailer.....they're great.
