How was your fitness level going into this race?
Very good.
Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?
Yes, I was up with Caitlyn and Lacey (but not for long!).
Were you
strong from start to finish?
No! I was dragging from start, but started to feel better at the end of
the race.
When did you put the hammer down?
Never. This race was about survival and just finishing.
Did you have
any unusual problems?
Yes--I think I started off dehydrated (too much energy drink and not enough
water before the race).
Were you happy with the way the race
was run?
Yes.
Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges
with competitors/spectators)?
I had a lot of interesting exchanges. My wonderful (and self-sacrificing)
husband who was racing expert and started ahead of me, stopped and waited
for me once Caitlyn and Lacey had passed him. He gave me one of his water
bottles since all I had in my Camebak was Gu20 and all my body was craving
was water! Once I guzzled that down, I stopped at the blue van stationed
halfway through the course and the nice guy there filled up my water bottle.
I'm not sure I would have finished without the water they both provided.
Anything
you would like to add?
As always, thanks to the race sponsors--Wooden Wheels and Trek.
