How was your fitness level going into this race?
I seemed to recover well from Michaux so I was feeling good.
Were
you happy with your position going into the singletrack?
I was 2nd behind Yozell so all was well.
Were you strong from start
to finish?
I was not. I was trying to drink lots because it was really humid, but
I was drinking only gatorade mix and I think it wasn't dilute enough,
so I got bad cramps at the start of the last lap.
When did you put
the hammer down?
At the beginning of the climbs after fuzzy's beer wagon on the first lap
I was leading when Mike Yozell crashed behind me. I had a gap and had
the others out of sight by the top.
Did you have any unusual problems?
At the top of the above mentioned first climb (in the little ring) I discovered
that my front derailleur cable had come disconnected from its fixing
bolt. I rode only little ring for the next 1/2 hour, stopping to reattach it
by the swimming hole after the tunnel. I probably could have rode the
whole race like that though. I was making good speed without the middle or
big rings.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
Very nice.
Did you have any interesting experiences during your race
(exchanges with competitors/spectators)?
I rode the last lap with Brandon Drageulis, and that was pleasant.
Anything
you would like to add?
Thanks to the people of Granoque estate for having us; it's a way-fun venue.
