How was your fitness level going into this race?
My fitness level was pretty good, all things considered. I seem to be racing
my self into shape.
Were you happy with your position going into
the singletrack?
Yes. I knew who the "key players" were, so I just needed to keep myself
among them for the first few miles until things thinned out. Then I was
able to settle into a nice, steady pace.
Were you strong from start
to finish?
I was steady. I wasn't really looking to attack the course in any one area.
Instead, I just wanted to ride a smart race, keeping it safe and free
of mechanical problems (which is tough to do at Michaux).
When did
you put the hammer down?
I never put the hammer down. I just rode with my teammate, Todd. Riding
with him on the long road climb was enough to separate us from the rest
of the field.
Did you have any unusual problems?
No problems. I was riding the absolute best bike for this race, the Liquid.
It performed flawlessly.
Were you happy with the way the race
was run?
Yes. This race is ALWAYS run well. The promoters do a great job.
Did
you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?
Not really.
Anything you would like to add?
I had a great time.
I'd like to thank my team, especially Jon Posner (manager) and Steve
Borkowski (mechanic)... and I'd like to thank all our sponsors: Trek,
VW, JBL, Fox, Sram, Hayes, Bontrager, Chris King, Wrench Force, Nike,
Sock Guy, Zeal, Swany, Oettinger, Power Bar, Emer'Gen-C.
I'd also like to congratulate my teammates Chris, Todd, and Caitlyn.
It's great to be affiliated with such a reputable program.
