How was your fitness level going into this race?
Coming along. I'm hoping to build into good form in Mid May and hold it
into June. Michaux is a special race, and I'm always motivated for it.
Were
you happy with your position going into the singletrack?
Yes, I was first, but Brandon made me work for it. We sprinted side by
side all the way down the dirt road.
Were you strong from start to
finish?
Yes, I think I rode consistently. It's a long race, and the course is tough
enough to break a lot of riders, and you need to be strong in the body
and the mind to make it through.
When did you put the hammer down?
I wanted to get out on my own from the first trail section, so I went out
fast.
Did you have any unusual problems?
My hands were cold from the rain and I couldn't feel them. This made it
tough to shift/brake/control the bike in the rocks.
Were you happy
with the way the race was run?
Yes, the Gettysburg Bicycle crew always puts on a great race. The prize
money is awesome.
Did you have any interesting experiences during
your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?
My family was out on Grave Ridge to watch (my Mum, Dad, Nephew, and fiance).
Grave Ridge is a special place to me, and it was amazing to see them there.
Anything
you would like to add?
Thanks to Brian for the Venison Burger after the race, and thanks to Allison
for cleaning and warming me up!
