How was your fitness level going into this race?
Ok, not tops. Hard to fit in lots of rides. I get on my bike maybe 2-3
times a week with one of the days being harder and longer. (hopefully)
Were
you happy with your position going into the singletrack?
Not really, hard to pass in the single track. Mostly because it was wet
and rocky. Then it started to pour and visibility for me was tough.
Were
you strong from start to finish?
I was strong at the start, SLOW at the middle and then I found some inspiration
to end it.
When did you put the hammer down?
During the climb up flat tire hill (huckleberry) . Then I kept it up till
the end.
Did you have any unusual problems?
Just mud and muck in the eyes making glasses smudgy and then mixing in
with my contacts. And the usual muddy bike and muddy pedal problems.
Were
you happy with the way the race was run?
Of course. It runs smoothly and safely.
Did you have any interesting
experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?
Yes, John Colgan helped me keep it together and not give up. He helped me
find my will at the end to put the hammer down.
Anything you would
like to add?
Theresa, you are riding GREAT!! Keep it up!
It was also nice to meet some new women riders: Trish Stevenson, Sue George.
And to talk with an old friend: Sue Musante. Not sure when I will see
you all again. Enjoy the ride!!
