How was your fitness level going into this race?

I wasn't sure. There were so many variables that I was just hoping to make it through in one piece without Eatough running me over.

Did you have any problems getting into the singletrack?

Yeah. I'm a lousy starter by trade but the course fluctuated between single track and passing areas so often that if you did get caught behind someone you only had to wait half a minute until you could pass again. Everyone that I encountered gave way when I asked.

Were you strong from start to finish?

I faded on lap four on that steepish climb.

When did you put the hammer down?

Right after I finished adjusting my head set (about 10 minutes before the start). It's just silly to carry a hammer with you in a race.

Did you have any unusual problems?

No.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yes. Great course, venue, weather, and people!

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

Kelly Cline showed me the most awesome line through the first part of the single track on lap 1. It really aloud me to carry lots of speed over the rocks and up the muddy rise. I'm grateful.

Anything you would like to add?

Hibernia was my first ride on my new TREK 8500. I got it on Tuesday and only rode it to school and home a few times. I love this bike to death! Thanks to Mike and the guys @ Green Mtn. Cyclery for all of their support these past 10 years!
