  • How was your fitness level going into this race?

I wasn't too sure since I was on the trainer a lot It turned out I was in better shape than I had expected.

  • Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?

Yes. I was slow off the start, but went in with the top five into the singletrack. I came in with the main pack, which is where I wanted to be.

  • Were you strong from start to finish?

I was pretty steady. I was making good time on the first steep climb. The second one off the pavement gave me the most trouble. Rico passed me on that one on the first lap.

  • When did you put the hammer down?

When I saw Tim about 1/2 way up the final climb, I knew I could catch him, so I started hittin' it hard. When we got out on the last field before the finish, I thought, what the hell, let me blow by him and try to beat him to the finish. It worked.

  • Did you have any unusual problems?

I was biffin' a little through the bog. I was able to ride it clean on the second lap.

  • Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Excellent Job! The Experts went off on time. Hopefully they can get the results done a little quicker.

  • Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

The coolest was seeing our new Junior expert, Brandon Drangelis fly by me on the last lap. Way to go Brandon. I heard a lot of team mates cheering me on. That was cool. That always get's me pumped up. One time, the leader, Tim noticed I was there when a teammate encouraged me to stay with him, and then he really took off. I didn't see him for a while.

  • Anything you would like to add?

Thanks to God for taking care of us. Thanks to my main squeeze Cass for believing in me. Thanks to Suzanne, Bill, and Bob at Guy's Bicycles for hooking up the team. Great shop! Many thanks to my team mates for the good times and lots of laughs. What a gas this sport is!
