Jason Moore

Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?

I hydrated really well and tried to induce the hydrating with salt, vitamins and whatnot yesterday.........tried to take it easy. I prepared for this race by learning from the first two Super Series races, Hibernia and Hershey........ so I knew what to expect and was ready for it.

Did you like the way Guy's ran each category separately to reduce traffic due to the large turnout?

It was run great! Didn't have any trouble with lapped riders at all.......just a few here and there..... but it was no trouble at all.

Were you happy with your choice of tires?

When I was pre-riding I had a lot of pressure in them.......they are tubeless tires which I recently got......and they do handle better than the regular tires with regular tubes........but I did have to let some air out of them.........I wrecked on a bridge and hit my head pretty hard during the pre-ride. Once I let the air out they handled a lot better.

What was your favorite part of the course?

I liked a lot of the wood sections where it was really, really gnarly and I could go faster than anybody really........'cause I knew how gnarly it was and it was real easy to fall........so you just had to go for it........be ready for the slippage and compensate for it. Down towards the bottom of the course and coming in towards the finish was nice.......I thought the end of each lap was fun.

Were you strong from start to finish?

Almost. At the start it was a little tough to get up front but then I got up front and was my buddy Ryan DeWald........ he put a gap on everybody and then he flatted...........since we had a gap I just went for it........the end of the first lap to the beginning of the second I believe.......... and then I was in the lead for the rest of the race.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

I made one guy mad.......I felt bad about it......... he was a TREK rider.......I went by and he said something negative......I responded with, "Oh, don't give me an attitude" and then I felt bad after I went by......... but I'm sure he didn't really mind.......he'll probably read this and not think anything of it. Besides that........it was good!

When did you put the hammer down?

I sort of put it down after Ryan flatted. The end of the first lap or possibly midway through the second lap. Then I had to keep it steady Eddie all the way from then on 'cause I knew that there were guys about 30 seconds back. I had to keep it pinned.

Did you have any unusual problems?

Not really.......I'm getting used to the mountain bike thing....... I've got things under control.......the tire pressure. The bike is always "iffy"........it's hard to get any mountain bike to work exactly perfect at the level that we're racing. Every single shift counts and if I had it my way I'd replace my parts every week but it doesn't always work that way.

How would you rate the course?

It was good. I actually liked it better than the first two of the series. I liked it better than Hibernia because it wasn't as muddy and I liked it better than Hershey just because it was a little gnarlier. It was definitely technical because the roots were wet and it had lots of turns so it made it challenging.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yeah.......it was run great. I was hanging out afterwards and they were pretty quick with the awards so I ended up running from my car so that I wasn't late. It was well run and I got some good money too.

Is there anything you would like to add?

Just that I hope I can win next Sunday......those guys are gonna get it [laughs]
