Did you do everything you could to prepare for today's race?
Almost......I was unrested...... I was really tired. I had pulled muscles in my hamstrings....... but I did everything I could.
Did you do a road race yesterday?
Yeah.....it was a State road Championship race.
How long was it?
65 miles.
Did you have any problems getting into the singletrack?
No...not really..... I just sprinted off of the start..... and stuck Chris...... and followed him. He's the best that was here today.
How did you like the long climbs?
They were good......they weren't what I expected. I expected to be out on a fire-road for a long time......like an established climb..... but they were just......climbing and climbing so.......it was all right.
Were you strong from start to finish?
Pretty much...... I was pretty steady and Chris pulled the whole race. Then I pulled once for about 40 seconds...... but then he attacked and dropped me.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
Yes.
When did you put the hammer down?
Sorta right from the start just sticking Chris and made sure I stuck his wheel. Sometimes I went so hard I thought my eyeballs were going to come out of my head.
Did you have any unusual problems?
My hamstrings hurt pretty bad....... that's about it....... I'm quite overtrained....... overworked I should say......
Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?
It was hard to stay on the trail sometimes........ that was about it really....... it was cool...... a good race. I liked it.
Do you enjoy point to point races more than lap races?
I do but for the spectators and my feeders.......... my swanyeah here...... Kate...... it's harder for them to get to the feed zone when it's a point to point.
It's hard for your camera man too.........
And the camera man too....... he's gonna have to start lifting weights soon.......(laughs).......
it was a good race.
