SUPER SPONSOR

DON MORRISON
SUPER SERIES PROMOTER
1. When did you first come up with the idea of creating the Mid-Atlantic Super Series?

Last fall when talking with Sarah Richards of Jorba. She told me that she was moving to New York and was not going to run any more races. During the cyclo-cross season I started talking with other promoters and that started the whole thing.

2. Were you surprised by the huge hit the Super Series seems to be in only it's first year?

Yes!! I think Hibernia and Hershey caught us off guard, with the huge turn out of riders to start the series. I think the riders got into the whole points thing and social atmosphere. It was great!!

3. How did you manage to promote the series, promote Hibernia, race the series (before your ankle injury) and run a successful retail business?

Don Morrison
Race for Chocolate ' 01

With my job I own two retail horse supply stores. They slow down in January and February so I can work on other things. That's when I did most of the work on the Super Series and the Hibernia race. The ankle injury did hurt my racing in the Series but I am healed up and now racing cyclo-cross.

4. It takes a lot of effort to put all of this together...... how will you keep from contracting "promoter burnout"?

By working with the other great promoters in the series and working on keeping it fun!! Having fun racing at great places with great friends is what it's all about!

5. What's the most difficult thing for you to deal with as the series promoter?

Being a new promoter I put a lot of pressure on myself to make everything go right.

6. What's the most FUN thing you do as the series promoter?

Having a beer with friends when its all over.

7. Is there anything you would like to change about the series for 2002?

There will be some changes. We might change the age groups some. A Clydesdale class will be added. Keep checking this website.

8. Do you plan on racing the series next year?

Yes. I hope to race more of the series.

9. What do you have for the racers to look forward to in 2002?

To start with we have a new race planned at Blue Marsh near Reading, PA. This is a great place and it will fit in with our Super Series of quality racing. I will be working on other things over the winter. See you all next season.
