How was your fitness level going into this race? I felt real good today. I have also been racing in off road duathlons this spring and the trail running part of these races have helped me a lot. Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack? Not really. A few of us in our class missed the right hand turn off after start climb to go back down. We kept climbing up to very top. When We realized We missed the turn We had to turn around to go back down. That put me behind a bunch of riders. Were you strong from start to finish? Yes. I liked the mud When did you put the hammer down? Old guys don't carry hammers but I know I had to pick it up right from the start since I messed up the start. Did you have any unusual problems? The same as all riders in the mud, after first lap my bikes shifting would not work anymore but I am sure that was the same for all bikes on a day like that. Were you happy with the way the race was run? Yes!! Breakaway Sports and JB Mt.Bikes did a great job. The weather was tough on them and all the riders but they came through big time. Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)? Not really I was just trying real hard to stay upright. The down hills got real slippery and the lines went all over the place. Anything you would like to add? A big thanks to Katy Silva for giving me a Hammer Gel as I started my second lap. Also to all the riders that came out to race on such a tough wet day!! See everyone May 18 at Race For Chocolate in Hershey,Pa.
