Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?
No...I worked the event all morning & jumped into my clothes about 20 minutes before the race. Thought maybe that method would give me some extra adrenaline for the start, but it didn't work.
Did you achieve your goals for this race?
No, I always want to win or at least ride strong and I didn't feel I did either.
Were you strong from start to finish?
Definitely a little stronger the last lap since it took me 2 laps to feel warmed up!
Did you have any problems trying to get to the single-track first?
I didn't know that they were running us with the junior men so I was just standing there talking whenever everyone took off. I think I went into the single-track in an ok placing but definitely could've had a better start!
Were the riders courteous while passing in the single-track?
Yes, everyone seemed to be pretty patient under the circumstances.
What was your favorite part of the course?
I liked it all actually. You don't get to race on many courses like that one. It's so fast and twisty and smooth, except for the big logs. I didn't like them much.
When did you put the hammer down?
I wasn't physically able to put the hammer down. I went a little harder the last lap when I saw some competition close ahead of me, but that was all I could do.
Did you have any unusual problems?
Just lack of warm up, and lack of technical skills to get over the big logs.
How would you rate the course?
Great!
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
I was working at the event and it all went smoothly at first, but I know people
were stressed about the results taking so long. Thanks to those who were patient!
