Kristine Oesterling

Did you do everything you could to prepare for today's race?

Probably not...I've stopped doing longer rides and hadn't done many hard effort rides beforehand which made the race pretty painful.

Did you have any problems getting into the singletrack?

No, I was first in, but then dropped my chain and got passed by a few riders.

How did you like the climbs?

They really got to me by the end but I just tried to keep it steady. Races with climbing usually benefit me.

Were you strong from start to finish?

Definitely stronger at the start, then I started to fade on the last lap and when that happens I don't ride the technical stuff very well. But I managed to hold it till the end.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yes, I thought things went very smoothly.

When did you put the hammer down?

Probably during the first 2 laps, which is not how I usually do things but it still worked out.

Did you have any unusual problems?

I had to stop twice to put my chain back on after dropping it.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

There were some very encouraging spectators out there. It's always nice to hear good things during a tough race--it makes you go faster!

Did you feel any extra excitement since this is the final Super Series race?

Yes since the points earned for placings are so close, I knew I had to finish in the top 4 to win the overall. That added some pressure and I was hoping that nothing would go terribly wrong.

If you had just ONE thing that you could change to make next year's series better....... what would that be?

More women racers! The more competition the more exciting the race. Although this is something that the series alone cannot really improve.

Anything you would like to add?

Thanks to Bill D. for the great pictures and series coverage on everyone throughout the year, Don for organizing everything, and Team Harrisburg sponsors: Bushey's Cycling & Fitness, Sutliff Autoplex West, The Phillips Group, and www.gretnabikes.com
