What do you do for cross training? (not cyclocross, but off the bike exercise)?

Walk the dogs and eat junk food.

Do you take time off the bike in the winter?

I do if I don't feel like riding.

How do you avoid weight gain in the winter?

I don't, I get fat in the off season like most people should.

What month do you plan on coming into fitness for the 2001 season?

I'm hoping that I will be in shape come April, I'll have to see how school goes and how much time I'll have to ride. Definitely by Snowshoe.

What month do you start your pre-season training?

This year I'm still trying to motivate myself to start training again. I think I started the first week of February.

How do you deal with riding in the winter conditions (cold, snow, ice, lack of daylight)?

I'm not a pussy, I just go out and do it while complaining the whole time about how cold it is and how out of shape I am.

What are your goals for the 2001 season?

I'd like to win 24hrs of Snowshoe again and be competitive in the NCS races. I also want to avoid getting leg cramps again.

Is the "pro mountain bike racer" lifestyle as much fun as you thought it would be?

I don't know, I'm not living like a pro bike racer yet. I spend too much time in school and at work.
