How was your fitness level going into this race?

I thought I was feeling pretty strong. It has been four years since I have done my last race and at that time I was racing junior sport. I knew the senior class was going to be much tougher so I was really unsure of how my fitness level was going to compare to my competitors.

Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?

Yes, very much so. I knew I wanted to get near the front, but was surprised to get the hole shot right off the line.

Were you strong from start to finish?

I guess. Like everyone, I think, I had my moments when I was wondering when was I going to reach the finish line. But in all, I rode my pace and felt good.

When did you put the hammer down?

I would say in the very beginning. Once I got out to the front I toned it down a bit and concentrated on the rest of the course.

Did you have any unusual problems?

No, except I shattered my smith glasses and my pack started to fall off from under my seat from the mud sticking to the velcro.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Despite the minor set backs before the start, they were very on time. They did such a good job of marking the course, it was very easy to follow.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?
