Esteban J. Rodriguez

Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?

More endurance miles, sprinting all hills on Central Park Drive in NYC

Did you achieve your goals for this race?

Yes

Were you strong from start to finish?

Yes

Did you have any problems trying to get to the single-track first?

No, as a matter of fact I got there before some of the younger class riders and managed to get them in between myself and my classmates.

Were the riders courteous while passing in the single-track?

In most cases yes which was cool because passing was very difficult in the first lap, but there was one girl that was cursing like a longshoreman don't know what her problem was.

What was your favorite part of the course?

Hard to say the whole course was great but to give an answer I would have to say the speed sections.

When did you put the hammer down?

Throughout the whole race I was cranking but I threw it into the big ring upon exiting the single track on the approach to the finish.

Did you have any unusual problems?

No

How would you rate the course?

Excellent and different usually I race on technical courses with lots of log's and rocks big climbs and bombing technical downhills but this course tested your fitness your shifting and your bike skills on those off camber trails and power climbs, those twists and turns with sudden power climbs caught a lot of people out of gear.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

With the turn out being so large I thought they did a great job, I usually pay attention to what the organizers and the officials are doing and totally respect and am grateful for what they are doing.... so I usually have patience when things aren't going right, I just wish they could have done the awards a little earlier. I didn't get home till 11:30!.

Is there anything you would like to add?

To the 2nd and 3rd placers in my group thanks for the good fight! See you at mountainbikeRACER.com MASS #3. I 'm also racing the NNJ race series if you guy's want to check it out. www.rvccmtb.com
