Robert Sauer - Guys Bicycles

Did you do anything special (apart from the whole training lifestyle) to prepare for this race?

No, but my early jump into training this year made this race much more tolerable.

Did you achieve your goals for this race?

Yes, well beyond my expectations.

Were you strong from start to finish?

I was pretty strong through each of the first three of the four laps. The last lap began to take its toll but the simple fear of being caught kept me riding as hard I could right to the end.

Don Morrison and Wissahickon Cyclery did a great job putting together this race and we thank them for their efforts. Was there anything that you observed that could be done better as the series progresses?

No, the organization was great and the payout was top notch.

When did you put the hammer down?

Well, I don't have much of a hammer to put down but I was concerned with my pace throughout the race. Keeping up my pace as high as possible without burning out is my only tool.

If you ran into these exact trail conditions again, would you do anything differently?

Yes, maybe some additional bike prep to keep the mud and vegetation from clogging the shifting components.

Did you have any unusual problems?

Like everyone else my ability to use all gears was slowly fading away. By the third lap I could not use my small chain ring and the cassette was starting to skip.

How would you rate the course?

As a blood and guts course its was number one.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yes, it was a well run event.

If you could do the race again - would you do anything differently?

No, its was a very good day.

Is there anything you would like to add?

I look forward to doing all of the Mid-Atlantic Super Series Events. I think it is the start of something really big for MTB racing. The great turnout this past race proves the point.
