How was your fitness level going into this race?

Very much Nonspecific, with sporadic cycling training the last 4-5 days thrown in

Were you happy with your position going into the singletrack?

Yes, since it was relatively easy to pass on the grass. With the mud, it was probably best to be on the grass in most spots anyway.

Were you strong from start to finish?

Yes, a good pace was definitely necessary for the tough slog.

When did you put the hammer down?

3rd lap, the hammer was necessary

Did you have any unusual problems?

Broken front deraileur on the 1st lap. A lot of grinding from the chain ring was the only way to go.

Were you happy with the way the race was run?

Yes, I hope we didn't destroy the course too much.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

When I was caught from behind by two in my category while trying to fix said mechanical problem there was some pleasant conversation.
