Did you do everything you could to prepare for today's race?
We hiked a mountain in Maine last week and my legs are still a little sore... but other than that, yes.
Did you have any problems getting into the singletrack?
No- since there were only 7 of us, there were no problems.
How did you like the manhole downhill?
Not so good. I crashed on it in a warm up loop. In the race, I walked it the first time, rode it the second time, bailed half way down the 3rd time (without even a scratch) and walked the 4th and final lap (there was no one there to see anyway).
Were you strong from start to finish?
The 4th lap was real tough. Since this is only my 2nd expert race, I think this course and the heat really got to me on the 4th lap.
Were you happy with the way the race was run?
The course was well marked, there were lots of marshalls and there was plenty of parking.
When did you put the hammer down?
I didn't. I just rode steady since I knew I had a good lead on 3rd place.
Did you have any unusual problems?
No
Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?
Talked to lots of people... spectators and fellow riders. Everyone was very friendly.
Did you climb the steep uphill on any laps?
Yes- on my feet : )
