Interview with John Stamstad (Chevy
Trucks/Airborne) INTERVIEW by SAMI FOURNIER |
Whats your name?
John Stamstad
And you are about to do the 24 hours of Snowshoe Solo?
Yes.
And this is how many times for you doing this race solo?
Fourth. First time on this course, though.
How is it going to be different?
I think an even pace is going to be even more important. Its going to be really difficult to eat and drink, so a very moderate pace might be in order. Its more of a survival effort, I would say, than usual.
More so than at Canaan?
Canaan is pretty hard. Canaan is kind of survival too. This is in the same light as that. You just want to make it through.
Are you looking forward to it?
Oh yes. I think it will be a great challenge.
Did you do anything special to prepare for this race?
I did push-ups. Hopefully I did enough of them. I think its going to be bumpy. I worked my hands a lot too.
What do you expect average lap times to be?
I dont know. I rode on Wednesday when it was still really wet. Evidently it is a lot faster now. It is usually in the ballpark of generally 30 minutes slower than the pro teams laps. For an average.
Who sponsors you?
Chevy trucks and Airborne Direct.
Where are you from?
Seattle, Washington.
