Kevin Sullivan Race Interview - Guy's Racing Summer Classic

I thought the race was run very well. Keeping the races separate was crucial (Sports in the morning, expert and pro's in afternoon). It helped keep the races fast and competitive and decreased the traffic on the trails. Also, I was able to watch my Expert friends race and vice versa which was nice .

Were you happy with your choice of tires?

I am not really a gear freak. I just use what I have and ride as hard as I can. However, looking back it may have been smarter to use a thinner tire.

What was your favorite part of the course?

The dry parts.

Were you strong from start to finish?

I got out in front of the pack early and stayed in first place for a good portion of the first lap. Then I ate it on a turn, I was passed by a few people and had to fight my way back to second place. But all in all I felt good throughout the race.

Did you have any interesting experiences during your race (exchanges with competitors/spectators)?

I thought everyone was pretty cool.

When did you put the hammer down?

I went hard in the beginning of the race to get in a good position before heading into the single track, then I think I just tried to maintain my position as best as possible. I think I was pretty consistent throughout the race.

Did you have any unusual problems?

How would you rate the course?

Flat, Winding, and Muddy, I'm sure the course is a real fast one on a dry day.

Absolutely!!!!!
