3rd Place
BEGINNER MEN / MASTER 45-49

Name: Big Jim Holeva

Team: Bike Hub

Category/Class: Beginner Master 1 Class

Place: 3rd

E-mail: JHOLEVAPHOTO@AOL.COM

What was your favorite Super Series race for 2001 and why?

Fair Hill Md. Fast Power Course. Although I didn't make the podium, I finished 4th, I was leading for the first 4 miles and I passed many younger racers ahead of me. Unfortunately I couldn't keep it up for the whole race, but I felt it was my best race of the season.

Pretend you are coaching your closest competitor........ what would you tell them to do differently in 2002 in order to beat you?

Switch to light beer! Email my son for a training program, he'll put you on the right track. His email is JHOLEVAPHOTO@AOL.COM.

What is it about mtb racing (BESIDES WINNING) that is MOST fun for you?

I love going with my son to races and watching him do well.

What month do you plan on coming into fitness for the 2002 season?

Big Jim Holeva

This season my son is putting together a winter training program for me. I want to be fast in April, but I'll really start to pick it up from June on.

What month do you start your pre-season training?

I've been taking it easy and recovering from a long season. I'll start to pick it up in December. I'll really start to ride a lot in March though.

How do you deal with riding in the winter conditions (cold, snow, ice, lack of daylight)?

Being a ski race coach at Montage in the winter, I don't have all the time in the world to train. But if it's cold and the weather's bad I'll have to layer up and ride because I don't want to listen to my son. I have my own business so I'll have the daylight available.

What are your goals for the 2002 season?

To be competitive in the Sport Master 1 Class.

If there was just ONE thing that you would like to see improved for next year (2002) - what would it be?

Free T-shirts.
